Interview with Mr. Kimiho Shiraishi, Yamatoya Koi Farm
Koibito Japan had the pleasure of being able to interview Mr. Kimiho Shiraishi, owner of Yamatoya Koi Farm. We asked Shiraishi san for his thoughts on this year's Nisai at Yamatoya Koi Farm, and also asked about his parent koi for his 2010 Nisai, among other things...
This interview is the first in a series of interviews Koibito Japan will be doing with several breeders over the coming weeks and months, we hope you enjoy these interviews, and should you have any requests for specific questions to be asked, or breeders to interview please let us here at Koibito Japan know via the usual channels.
Shiraishi san, sometimes known by our customers affectionately as "Yamatoya San" was able to give Koibito Japan 30 minutes from his busy schedule so we could get an interview with him on video. Shiraishi san has been breeding koi for 30 years, and started his life in the koi industry at Miyajima Koi Farm, Toyama Prefecture. From there he returned home with the dream of building up his own koi farm. All those years ago, never did he once think that his koi would be bought and sold all over the world, and he would eventually reach the ultimate goal of all koi breeders in Japan, to win the All Japan Koi Show. This he did in 2009, with a wonderful 94 cm Showa.
In this interview we talk to Shiraishi san a little about this Showa, but also about the parent koi he used to breed his Nisai for 2010. Please sit back and enjoy.
Apologies must be made for the unbalanced sound quality. The interviewer's voice is fairly loud, while Shiraishi San's voice is fairly quiet. Will try harder in following interviews to make the sound much better.
