Momotaro Auction - November 18th 2009 - PhotosKoibito Japan attended the Tosai and Nisai auction at Momotaro today...lots of fun was had by all...

A total of 63 Nisai and around 1000 Tosai were up for sale today at the second Momotaro Koi Farm auction of the Autumn 2009 koi season.

Koibito Japan was there when the action started at 10 a.m. with Nisai being offered first. Nisai averaged out to around 400,000 yen, with the very best Kohaku going over 2,000,000 yen, the best Sanke going for 900,000 yen and the best Showa going for over 900,000 yen.

Tosai were auctioned off after lunch. First in lots of 30 fish for the average grade koi, and the better quality Tosai being auctioned after this, piece by piece. These fish are not guranteed female, so buying in Autumn is a real gamble, which sometimes can pay off if the Tosai turns out to be Female...

Still, the fish we saw were in good condition overall, and the Tosai give an indication that next year's Jumbo Tosai auctions will be very interesting indeed.

Hope you all enjoy looking at the photos, as much as we did being there and taking them...
